MIDTOWN, NY — A bike-riding crook is stealing bags from women along First and Second avenues, police said.

Officials believe the same man twice stole bags from two separate women on the east side in July.

On July 15, the cycling crook ripped two bags from a 42-year-old woman on Second Avenue and East 14th Street at 1:45 a.m, police said.

The man pulled so hard on the bags that he sent the woman flying to the ground, officials said. She suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention, according to police.

Ten days later on July 25, the robber struck again on First Avenue and East 40th Street, stealing a 39-year-old woman's purse at 2:45 p.m., police said.

Her purse was also pulled with such velocity that she landed on the pavement, but police said she was uninjured.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
