BRANDON, FL— Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman involved in an accidental shooting at Brandon Mall Saturday afternoon.

At about 3:30 p.m., the woman, a man and two children were at Charley's Cheesesteaks, at 509 Brandon Town Center Drive, when the woman went up to the counter to pick up their food. When she leaned over, authorities believe a firearm accidentally went off inside her purse and a bullet struck the countertop, according to a news release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, as well as other people at the mall, fled the scene, running out of the food court and into the parking lot at Brandon Mall.

There have been no reported injuries, authorities said. The mall was closed for the remainder of Saturday following the incident, according to the sheriff's office.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is looking to identify the woman in the photo above to make sure she did not sustain any injuries. If you have any information related to this case you can contact HCSO investigators at 813-247-8200.
